Make the vacuum cleaner more compact
Since a Li-ion battery has about three times the energy density of a Ni-MH battery and five times that of a Ni-Cd battery at a third of the size and weight of a Ni-MH/Cd battery, a Li-ion battery pack can provide the same capacity and energy as Ni-MH/Cd battery for a smaller size.

Save on maintenance costs with a longer battery life cycle
The life of a Ni-MH/Cd battery is about 30% of a Li-ion battery. Although the initial purchase price for a Ni-MH/Cd battery may be lower than a Li-ion battery, the total cost of ownership is much lower for a Li-ion battery since a Ni-MH/Cd battery needs to be replaced twice over five years while a Li-ion battery may be used continuously without any replacement.

Charge the vacuum cleaner anytime, free from the memory effect
The capacity of a Ni-MH/Cd (particularly a NiCd) battery tends to drop suddenly when not fully discharged before being recharged since it is vulnerable to the memory effect. In contrast, a Li-ion battery may be recharged while in use as it experiences no memory effect.

Keep the suction power constant during operation
The working efficiency of a Ni-MH/Cd battery declines as power drops within a few seconds of operation, but a Li-ion battery has stable discharge characteristics and a very low voltage drop, and does not exhibit such sudden decrease in power.

A Li-ion battery is an eco-friendly battery using no hazardous materials (e.g., Pb, Cd, Hg) restricted for use under various environmental regulations.
